ON DISPLAY THROUGH NOVEMBER 21 IN NAPERVILLE November is Pancreatic Cancer awareness month. Three organizations; the Joseph C. Monastra Foundation, the Lustgarten Foundation and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network have united to light the Naperville Carillon purple. Late last week, the foundation also received a Naperville Proclamation declaring November 16 World Pancreatic Cancer Day. The Naperville Proclamation will be put up in Edward Cancer Center to give hope to patients and families. Pancreatic Cancer is currently the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths; with no early detection and no cure, it is projected to be the 2nd by 2020. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most lethal types of cancer, and there is only a 5-year 7% survival rate. When patients typically find out they have this disease they are lucky if they have a few months to live. In 2017 estimated 53,670 new cases of pancreatic cancer will be diagnosed in the US. STARTING DECEMBER 1 AT SELECT AMC THEATRE LOCATIONS Titanic lovers, rejoice! You will love this recent news. James Cameron’s Titanic is one of the highest-grossing movies ever released, but the Oscar-winning film will soon have a chance to add to the $2.19 billion total it has already grossed at movie theaters worldwide. According to Fortune.com Titanic is returning to a select number of AMC Theatres in the U.S. for one week, starting Dec. 1, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the blockbuster movie’s 1997 release. Viacom’s Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox, which together produced Titanic, announced the limited re-release on Wednesday along with AMC Entertainment and Dolby Laboratories.The movie will be available to watch in either 2D or 3D and it has been remastered in Dolby’s ultra high-definition Dolby Vision format, the companies said in a press release. Tickets go on sale on today for showings of Titanic at more than 85 AMC locations equipped with Dolby Vision across the country, including 20 locations with 3D showings. Cinnamon Apple Pie 1 refrigerated pie crust 1 tablespoon butter, melted 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 2 cans (21 ounces each) Lucky Leaf Premium Apple Fruit Filling 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, softened 1 cup flour 1 cup light brown sugar 1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus additional (optional) 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 2 teaspoons milk, plus additional (optional) Heat oven to 400 F. On lightly floured surface, unroll pie crust. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with cinnamon. Roll up tightly and slice into 1/2-inch rounds, like miniature cinnamon rolls. Press miniature cinnamon rolls evenly into bottom and sides of 9-inch pie plate, making sure there are no spaces between rolls. Pour fruit filling on top of crust. In large bowl, using pastry blender, combine stick of butter, flour and brown sugar, until crumbly. Sprinkle over apple filling. Bake pie until top and crust are golden brown and filling is bubbling, about 40-45 minutes (cover top and crust with foil, if necessary, to prevent from getting too dark). Remove from oven and allow to cool. In small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and milk to form icing. Add more sugar or milk, if necessary, to reach desired consistency.
