UNIQUE IN SUBURBIA | Bar Chido In Downers Grove

by Brianna Bartemeyer

America’s obsession can be summed up in one word: Tacos.

How many dating profiles have you come across that state, “I’m just here for the tacos”, “I love tacos” or “Tacos are my love language” … ? A love of tacos is just about as unique and original as stating you love puppies. Seriously, who doesn’t?! Tacos occupy much of today’s culinary world. In fact, Mexican cuisine is the second most popular ethnic cuisine in the US. Its versatility allows guests to customize and chefs to inspire. As America’s ingenuity continues to reimagine this beloved cuisine, restaurateurs are finding new ways to satisfy this demand. Introducing: Bar Chido in downtown Downers Grove.

Bar Chido specializes in modern Mexican street food - offering a new, cool and fresh addition to the neighborhood’s dining scene. Its vibrant, vacation-vibe interior was inspired by travels to Mexico - creating a friendly and inviting experience for guests. Its menu offers small plates, large plates … and, of course, tacos! Fresh-squeezed lime juice, house-made tortillas, seasonal menus, weekly rotating tacos and specialty cocktails are some unique ways BC is elevating and differentiating its dining experience. Not to mention, a partnership with local-microbrewery Goldfinger to make its own Mexican lager. Favorites include: the Crunchwrap, Al Pastor Tacos and Poblano Escobar (a poblano-infused tequila with cucumber and fresh lime … topped with a tajin rim).

As Spring approaches, there is one season in the midwest that excites us most: patio season. BC’s patio will open March 15th - mark your calendars! Cheers to al fresco dining at this hip, local cantina - enjoy!
