UNIQUE IN SUBURBIA | A Charming Local Bookstore Located in Beautiful St. Charles Historic District

TOWN HOUSE BOOKS

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.“ –Dr. Seuss

ST. CHARLES–Ever catch yourself saying, “I wish I had more time for reading?” We aren’t talking about Instastories, news headlines or 250-count magazine articles (ahem, thanks for reading!). Intentional reading. As book title proliferation continues, many of us are overwhelmed by the choices. Ask friends for recommendations. Discover impassioned topics and genres. Join a book club. OR - visit a local bookshop … and connect with the experts! Enter Town House Books & Cafe.

Founded in 1974, this charming bookstore is located in the beautiful historic district of St. Charles. It once housed a beauty parlor, antique shop and ice cream parlor. And most notably, it was the home to St. Charles’ second mayor - thus, referred to as the ‘Wing House’. Known for its contemporary fiction novels, children’s nook, robust history section, nature books and carefully curated poetry collections, THB offers a respite for book lovers of all ages. As guests meander through nestled nooks, stacked shelves and covered tables, this unique shop creates an inviting space for its readers to explore. Be sure to swing by the cafe, too! Most items are made-from-scratch - local favorites: apricot chicken salad sandwich, Ultimate BLT and New England clam chowder.

In this season-of-love, it’s the perfect excuse to rekindle your love of reading and turn it into your favorite well-loved habit. It’s a habit that reduces stress, builds empathy and supports imagination. What’s not to love? New year … new habits … new you!
