Naperville Park District Releases a Statement Regarding Incident at Centennial Beach
NAPERVILLE– A tragic incident unfolded Thursday evening, July 10, at Centennial Beach, located at 500 W. Jackson Avenue in Naperville, when a 27-year-old man was found unconscious in the water. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 6:00 p.m., and the man was transported to Endeavor Health Edward Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Naperville Park District confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the man’s identity has not yet been released. “Out of respect for the individual’s family and pending further investigation, the Park District will not be providing any further comment,” said Executive Director Brad Wilson.
Centennial Beach, a popular summer destination known for its unique quarry-style swimming area, will remain closed on Friday, July 11, as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
