4. Vermillion River Rafting | OGLESBY, IL The big Vermillion River starts its 50 mile course as a pair of creeks on the border of Ford and Livingston counties, deepens as it rolls through Pontiac to the dam at Streator, picks up speed as it winds through Matthiessen State Park, and empties into the Illinois River near LaSalle/Peru. Vermillion River Rafting offers three to four hours whitewater rafting and kayaking adventures on the Big Vermillion River. 5. “The Joker” at Six Flags Great America | GURNEE There's always something new at Six Flags Great America and this year it’s THE JOKER Free Fly Coaster debuting Memorial Day Weekend. It’s the 15th and most maniacal coaster that will be added to Six Flags Great America’s arsenal and we invite our most adventurous readers to ride it for an experience like no other. Take a ride 120 feet in the air at a 90 degree angel before you begin your free spin, flying in the sky over 12 stories in the air, nothing above or below.

6. Dolphin In-Water Adventure | INDIANAPOLIS ZOO Wonder what it's like to get into the water with a dolphin? You may remember Kristen Kucharski’s Mom’s Little Black Book feature from May 2014 highlighting this fabulous midwest adventure! The Indianapolis Zoo is the only place in the Midwest where you can experience an in-water doplhin experience. How cool is that! Must be reserved in advance and include up to eight participants.
