Ruta Drulia is a Naperville-based photographer specializing in family photography, events and more through her company Ruta Drulia Photography. Ruta shoots local features for the magazine including portraits, businesses, events and more.

1.What's your go-to girl power song, and why?

Not sure if it is a girl power song, but I love Queen “Don’t stop me now”, because it’s fun and makes me smile!

2. If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be, and why? 

I would love to edit my pictures in a blink of an eye! 

3. Share a memorable moment from a community event or photo shoot that you've been a part of. 

I really enjoyed taking pictures of different families before the Halloween. It was interesting to see how they are decorating their homes and what unique decorations they have.

4. What's your favorite local hangout spot, and what do you love about it? 

Naperville Riverwalk, because it's peaceful and beautiful. Perfect location for a photo session or a nice walk.

5. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be, and why? 

Leonardo da Vinci, because he was not just a painter and artist, he was also an engineer, architect, scientist, inventor, cartographer, anatomist, botanist and writer. He was a genius!

6. Describe your perfect staycation location in just three words. 

Family friendly, relaxing and beautiful (picture perfect).

7. Share a funny or interesting anecdote about your experience in the community living or digital marketing industry. 

I bought a new lens and wanted to try it out before using it for work, so I messaged a friend and asked if she had any free time the next day for me to take some test shots. She shows up the next day with her graduation regalia, and gets a free graduation photoshoot out of it. Clever girl! They are also the best grad photos I have taken, so I got some portfolio material out of the deal and it was really a win all around.

8. What's a quirky talent or hobby that most people don't know you have? 

Playing old fashion board games.

9. If you were to create a signature cocktail representing your role in the company, what would it be called and what ingredients would it have? 

It would be a Spring Green Matcha cocktail. It would have all the secret ingredients that I like!

10. What's a piece of advice or mantra that resonates with you and guides your work in the community living or digital marketing field? 

Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of your life!
