FUNDRAISER SET UP BY WOMAN'S BROTHER TO HELP HER GET HER LIFE BACK AFTER TRAGIC ATTACK The brother of the woman who was shot on Saturday during a carjacking at Wendy's in Aurora on North Orchard Road has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help his sister, who was critically injured in the attack. Please donate if you can at the link below. She is a local area mom who simply stopped to grab something to eat while out running errands on a Saturday afternoon. Our heart breaks for all that she is going through. Here is his heartwarming tribute to her, as written on his GoFundMe page. "On January 16th, my sisters life was changed in an instant. Three unknown assailants yanked her from her vehicle, shot her in the back leaving her laying in the Wendy's restaurant parking lot with shattered vertebrae and a bullet lodged in her spinal cord. In turn taking her vehicle and personal effects. The first of several expected surgeries is planned for tomorrow to stabilize her spine and begin the healing process. Kim (Aigner) Weibring now starts a journey with her destination unknown, as an active mom of two young boys her primary concern is getting back to them. She has been told to expect a difficult and challenging rehabilitation process. She is optimistic and remains upbeat that she will walk again, but now faces spending the rest of her life in a wheel chair. Kim is the strongest person I know, if anyone can overcome the chaos she was viciously and randomly thrown into it is her, but it is obvious she will need our love and assistance. Kim Pictured with her Brother Michael Kim is in need of help with medical expenses, loss of income, rehabilitation residential center costs, and the need to adjust her home/vehicle to be ADA accessible. She has been told to expect multiple surgeries and weeks or months of live in rehabilitation. Average yearly costs for a first year spinal chord injury is $347,484. https://www.christopherreeve.org/living-with-paralysis/costs-and-insurance/costs-of-living-with-spinal-cord-injury My sister is a mom first and foremost. Her boys are the most important part of her life. Her first words to me are always "How are my boys?". We aren't allowed into the hospital to visit her. Only the police and investigators, she's alone fighting this battle. My sister wants to get back to her boys! Loving them, caring for them, laughing with them is what keeps her fighting. Please help us fight with her. Any donation is one step closer to showing Kim she's not ALONE in this!" DONATE FULL STORY RE: THE INCIDENT DUPAGE KANE
