A NAPLES FAMILY TRADITION IN WHEATON

There is something about having your Mom’s homemade meals. The smells from the kitchen when you arrive, the memories each meal returns you to– each are gifts from the heart. We found an Italian family that will leave you feeling equally comforted and satiated.

Originally from Naples, Executive Chef Nancy Longobardi and daughter Rose Migliaccio will welcome you to Il Sogno as if they are welcoming you into their home. Nestled on a second level overlooking downtown Wheaton, this unique eatery offers a full bar, dine in, take out or dine alfresco on the roof. Serving traditional and creative southern Italian dishes specializing in seafood, their tasty menu offers a plethora of satisfying options.

Sitting atop the restaurant gives you a beautiful view of quaint Wheaton and offers the perfect sun kissed lighting accompanied by a cool breeze. Rose shared with us that this Fall they plan on converting the outdoor dining space to allow usage when the weather isn’t cooperating. Whether you dine inside or out, you will find attentive service. Our server, Dave Mayo grew up in Wheaton and enjoys seeing familiar faces.

We started with the Arancini of the day and Mrs. Longobardi didn’t disappoint us. The eggplant stuffed with milk fed veal, cheeses, sweet peas and a ragu was tasty to the palate. The Lobster and homemade Gnocchi with garlic bread crumbs was a personal favorite. Always a fresh and light start is the Caprese salad or for something different, try the Roasted Beet Salad. The Burrata ECorn tops fresh focaccia with charred corn, red peppers, basil and parmesan reggiano and just melts in your mouth. With such a great start to the meal, we had to remind ourselves that we still had entrees to eat!

Our entrees were not only wonderful to the eye, but to the taste as well. Though the Linguini was put together in a simple way using fresh clams, garlic, olive oil and parsley, the taste was truly divine. The Lobster Cappellacci is another delectable dish– Lobster filled pasta surrounded by shrimp; mushrooms, plum tomatoes and a cream sauce created just the right amount of flavor.

For a more traditional dish try the Cannelloni filled with ricotta, mozzarella, ragu and meatballs. Grab your loved ones and join this Italian family for dinner beneath the blue sky! Il Sogno
