FILMING WILL TAKE PLACE AT HISTORICAL HOTEL BAKER Next week, starting on March 10, a Netflix production directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, 7, Zodiac, etc. - pictured above)) will be filming in Downtown St. Charles. The Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winning director is bringing his latest movie project, The Killer , to west suburban Chicago with plans to film through March 18 at Hotel Baker along the Fox River. The filming crew has been filming in Paris. The film will star Academy Award winner Michael Fassbender , known for playing the character Magneto in the X-Men movies. Academy Award winning actress Tilda Swinton also is part of the cast. The Kane County Chronicle reported that the production team will use the former St. Charles police station along the Fox River along with use of the west side parking deck at First and Illinois streets during the upcoming filming schedule. The former police station will serve as the hub for the production and the production crew will use the fifth floor of the parking deck. ABOUT THE MOVIE Netflix’s The Killer is based on the French graphic novel of the same name by author Alexis Nolent, under the pen name Matz, and artist Luc Jacamon. The first volume was published in 1998 and the latest was in 2017. It is yet unknown which parts of the graphic novel will be adapted into the movie, so hopefully, there is a chance for sequels, provided The Killer turns out to be a success. Here is the official logline for Netflix’s The Killer : A man solitary and cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, the killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool. A brutal, bloody and stylish noir story of a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind. ABOUT THE CAST Netflix’s The Killer will be led by Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Michael Fassbender (pictured), who is known for his many projects like X-Men, 12 Years a Slave, Steve Jobs, Macbeth, and more. Fassbender will play the role of the titular killer, who develops a conscience during the movie. At one point the role was reportedly going to go to Brad Pitt . Tilda Swinton (pictured) was subsequently confirmed to be in the cast. The actress is most known for titles like Snowpiercer , The French Dispatch , Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Netflix’s Okja . According to Whats-On-Netflix.com Among the rumored actors and actresses to appear in the movie currently includes: • Kellan Rhude ( Dexter: New Blood ) • Monika Gossmann ( Mank ) • Caitlin Turner ( Interview with the Vampire ) The City of St. Charles has released information about road closures during the filming. It reads: Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11, Main Street between 5th Avenue and 3rd Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting at 5 p.m. and will not be reopened until 6 a.m. the following day. Police Officers and members of St. Charles Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will be onsite to assist motorists around the detour each night. Drivers are encouraged to avoid downtown and use alternate routes and bridges to cross the river unless specifically visiting downtown. Please note: All area restaurants and businesses will remain open and welcome patrons during the filming. The film production will begin Thursday, March 10 and be completed March 18th; however, the production crew will be present in St. Charles beginning Monday, March 7. ARTS + ENTERTAINMENT ST.
