FUN WITH DAD, TOO!

June always brings dad to the forefront celebrating Father’s Day. I’m lucky that my dad demonstrates love, respect, faith, honor, hope, compassion, and empathy to everyone he meets regardless of race, color, religion - including the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs – even though he is a Sox fan! So when I saw that the Cubs offered behind-the-scene tours, I knew he would be fully on board to go and check it out. Finding the time to go was easy since Wrigley Field Tours are offered several times a day, each day, regardless of weather. Parking was a bit challenging, but once we found our spot and started a tour, the fun began. The energy was high, as our journey started with the opportunity to take photos on the field. As we meandered our way down the bleachers, up the ramps, and to the upper decks, we were fully immersed with engaging information. Who knew the location was originally a Lutheran Seminary; that every sport has been played on the field – including ski jumping; and the original name was the Chicago White Stockings? My girls seemed most engaged with the stories that surrounded the Bleacher Bums and their antics at the games; as well as, the guy who was manually changing the scoreboard above us! My mom thoroughly loved the history of it all. She is a die-hard Cubs fan and genuinely loved hearing every minute of each story our tour guide shared with such zest. Game day tours and non-game day tours are slightly different, but typically include a combination of the seating bowl, press box, Budweiser Bleachers, Visitors' clubhouse, Cubs' dugout, time on the field, the upper deck, and the Jim Beam Patio. The tour is approximately 85 minutes long, is outdoors, and includes lots of walking and stairs, so be sure to wear your good walking shoes and dress for the weather! Overview
