Girl Scouts champion positivity while learning business ethics, people skills, goal setting, decision making, and money management through the organization’s annual Girl Scout Cookie Program. NORTHERN ILLINOIS – Local Girl Scout entrepreneurs are embracing the theme of Go Bright Ahead , represented by a leaping dolphin, during the organization’s 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Program! The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the world’s largest entrepreneurial program for girls. Girl Scouts’ newly updated Financial Literacy badges offer entrepreneurial playbooks for every age level. From the Cookie Goal Setter badge earned as a Daisy (grades K–1) to the Entrepreneur Accelerator for girls in high school, the Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls financial literacy, planning, budgeting, teamwork, innovative thinking, and confident decision making. If you know a Girl Scout, ask how you can support them in their own cookie small business! Girl Scouts are currently taking cookie orders in person and can receive cookie orders via their Digital Cookie® websites to personally deliver cookies to their local customers. Beginning February 27, customers can order their favorite cookies for shipment, directly to their front door, including the new Raspberry Rally™ cookie—a thin crispy cookie infused with raspberry flavor and dipped in chocolaty coating! Raspberry Rally is exclusively offered through digital channels for direct shipment only, enhancing girls’ e-commerce sales and entrepreneurial skills. This latest approach will help to guide the evolution of the cookie program for the digital future. Raspberry Rally joins the full 2023 cookie lineup which includes refreshing Thin Mints® (vegan!), caramel-y Samoas®, peanut butter-stuffed Tagalongs®, crunchy Do-si-dos®, buttery Trefoils®, sweet S’mores®, toffee-chipped Toffee-tastics® (gluten free, too!), and the caramel and brownie-inspired Adventurefuls™. Cookies are all $5 per package! Don’t know a Girl Scout? Visit www.girlscoutsni.org/buycookies to connect with local cookie entrepreneurs who would love to add you to their customer lists! During Girl Scout Cookie season, each entrepreneur sets out to sell delicious cookies while also building entrepreneurial and business skills imperative for leadership and future success. All net revenues raised—100 percent of it—stays within the northern Illinois area. Every package of cookies sold provides invaluable experiences for Girl Scouts such as service projects, troop travel, and summer camp for girls across the country! Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Cookie Program Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois uses cookie earnings to power amazing experiences through their programming, while Girl Scouts and their troops decide how to invest in impactful community projects, personal enrichment opportunities, and more. Skills learned through the cookie program also influence later success as data shows more than half (57 percent) of Girl Scout alums in business say the cookie program was beneficial to skills they possess today, such as money management, goal-setting, and public speaking. 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Program Sponsor Girl Scouts is excited to welcome Planet Oat Oatmilk as a national sponsor of the 2023 Girl Scout Cookie Program. NAPERVILLE – Naper Settlement, a nationally accredited outdoor museum, is offering fun, educational employment opportunities for the 2017 summer season. The museum invites applicants that are highly motivated and team-oriented to apply for Camp Naper Counselor positions, and college students, who have completed their sophomore year, to apply for the Internship Program. Counselors and interns will have fun working alongside professionals, while gaining valuable museum experience. Both programs are paid, temporary positions and run from June 5 to July 28. Internship applications need to be submitted by February 26. For more information and how to apply, visit www.napersettlement.org/jobs. “Becoming a Naper Settlement intern or camp counselor is more than just a summer job, it allows you to gain practical experience in a professional environment,” said Naper Settlement’s Chief Operating Officer, Harriet Pistorio. “Many interns and counselors have come back to volunteer at Naper Settlement, as well as move on to part-time or full-time positions. I highly encourage anyone who is interested.” Isabella Heidenreich, an international business and marketing major at Bradley University, attended Naper Settlement summer camps for three years as a child and decided to transition into a camp counselor. Heidenreich says becoming a counselor was incredibly fulfilling. “As a camp counselor, you get to meet a lot of great people at the Settlement and get an inside scoop to some of the buildings and curatorial work,” said Heidenreich. “You have a lot of great interactions with the kids, which makes the job really fun and rewarding.” Camp Naper Counselors will implement camp activities and communicate the themes of Naper Settlement by leading educational programs and working with campers to provide a quality museum experience that is both exciting and instructive. This temporary summer position is part of the Education Department and reports directly to the Director of Learning Experiences. College students from all backgrounds and fields of study are encouraged to apply to the Internship Program. Students will pick a department to work in, which includes Development, Learning Experiences, Marketing, Special Events and Guest Services. During their internship, they will be assigned a specific project and will have weekly lunch meetings with staff members on select topics, such as collections management and marketing plans. Interns will work 20 hours a week and will work the June and July Naper Nights Summer Concert Series. Kirsten Kleman is a senior at North Central College, studying art history and studio art, and was a Volunteer Management Intern in the Guest Services Department this past summer. Kleman decided to apply to Naper Settlement’s internship program to gain industry experience and exposure to the type of workforce she wanted to enter. “The internship program gives you an opportunity to connect with department leaders to gain exposure to different responsibilities and their impact on the museum’s initiatives,” said Kleman. “Interns gain a well-rounded viewpoint, understanding day-to-day activities, large projects and special events from start to finish.” Kirsten Kleman currently works part time in the Guest Services department at Naper Settlement. Kleman assists with volunteer related activities, wedding rentals and special events. About Naper Settlement Naper Settlement is a nationally accredited, award-winning outdoor museum set on 12 magnificent acres in the heart of Naperville, where history comes to play and community comes to connect.
