CANINE ASSISTED GLEN ELLYN POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR 10 YEARS After 10 years of service to the Glen Ellyn Police Department and Village of Glen Ellyn, Canine Madden has retired from service and was honored at the Monday, June 26 Village Board Meeting. In November 2014, the Police Department initiated its canine program with a canine, Madden, who was immediately assigned to Task Force Officer Tony Terranova at the Drug Enforcement Administration. Canine Madden and Terranova recently completed the assignment after approximately 8½ years of working together. The canine program proved to be an overall successful endeavor for the Department as Canine Madden was responsible for the seizure of hundreds of pounds of illicit drugs and over $20,000,000 in drug proceeds.

RESERVE 22 RESTAURANT UNVEILS TIKI TAKEOVER GLEN ELLYN–Reserve 22 is excited to unveil their newest theme, a Tiki Takeover. Embracing the feel of spring break and warmer weather, Reserve 22’s Tiki Takeover includes tropical cocktails and Polynesian-inspired culinary dishes including coconut chicken sliders, gochujang bbq riblets, beef bulgogi lettuce wraps and more. Specials will rotate each week and can be found on the Reserve 22 Facebook page. The month of March also includes a $3 beer draft special. The tiki bar is currently scheduled to run through April 3. Food & Beverage Director Jon Satinover is excited to surprise guests. “We want to transport our guests to a hidden tropical oasis right in their hometown. It’s a way to escape the dreary winter and dream of a tropical vacation, whether you are traveling for Spring Break or not.” The restaurant bar is adorned with a thatched roof and island décor. Bar stools each wear a brightly covered hula skirt and cocktails are served in fun tiki glasses. Guests can grab a photo with a beach background and fun tropical props. Current hours are Wednesday – Thursday, 11-8pm, Friday and Saturday, 11-10pm and Sundays 11-8pm. GET READY FOR SEASONAL SWEETS, GOURMET FRENCH MACAROONS AND MORE Vanilla Sugar Bakery , the premier multi-occasion bakery located at 540 Duane Street in Glen Ellyn, founded by sister duo Maggie and Norma Samaan is a “from scratch” bakery that creates a variety of freshly made sweet treats for corporate events, parties, weddings and special occasions, using the owners’ personal recipes. "The fondest memories were when our father would bake and frost cupcakes for us to bring to school and that started from kindergarten until we went into junior high. That was the moment when cupcakes, cakes and overall baking sparked a passion in the both of us," they shared. The sister duo specializes in creating unique, standout designs with each of their items, which include signature cakes, designer cupcakes, cookie sets, sweetly stacked cookie sandwiches, gourmet French macaroons and more. Vanilla Sugar Bakery currently does not offer walk-in orders, but it drops a rotating weekly to-go menu that can be ordered for same-day pickup. The bakery recommends placing custom orders that are not from the to-go menu, one to three weeks in advance and scheduling a pickup time. RESERVE 22 HOSTS THE WEST SUBURBAN AREAS’ FIRST HOLIDAY POP-UP GLEN ELLYN–Reserve 22 Restaurant and Bar is bursting with joy to announce the return of their holiday pop-up beginning on Tuesday, November 22nd through January 2nd during the restaurant’s regular business hours. The festive décor includes tens of thousands of holiday lights throughout the bar area, four Christmas trees, over 400 snowflakes and an “Instagram-worthy” selfie photo booth with Buddy the Elf. All new for 2022 is the Winter Wonderland themed Dining Room bursting with lights, snowflakes and a 12-foot Christmas tree. Chef Thomas Fota is preparing weekly Chef Specials to accompany the new Fall/Winter menu.
