Empowering Change: Tanya Davis's Journey of Service and Leadership WHEATON–Tanya Davis, Co-Founder of the William & Mary Davis Foundation , is a shining example of leadership and compassion driven by purpose. Raised in the historic Black community of Shiloh in Asheville, NC, Tanya witnessed the strength of perseverance early on. Her mother worked tirelessly in a factory to support her family, instilling in Tanya a commitment to hard work and service. The foundation she co-created with her husband, Steve, honors his parents, William and Mary Davis, who also exemplified resilience by working hard to provide for their family. Through the William & Mary Davis Foundation , Tanya dedicates herself to empowering underrepresented communities. One standout initiative, "A Purpose by Design," offers young women aged 13–17 a life-changing opportunity to explore career paths, financial literacy, and mentorship alongside servant leaders from across the country. Remarkably, under Tanya's guidance, four young ladies have taken confident steps toward financial independence by opening ROTH IRAs before heading off to college. Furthering her mission, Tanya's family also founded The Tuskegee Next Foundation , which has enabled seventy-six young adults to earn pilot's licenses, breaking barriers in the aviation industry. She also has a book coming out in December entitled, Threads: Tapestry of Life in the Black Community of Shiloh and Beyond . Her advice to step outside comfort zones and connect with diverse perspectives reflects her heartfelt belief in learning from others. For Tanya Davis, community service isn’t just work—it’s a way of life. -Lindy Kleivo, Photos by Ruta Drulia
