Owners, Jennifer Dexter and Paulina Sihakom both left corporate jobs to seek something more fulfilling.They recognized the need in the community for home care and felt it was their calling to help people. Together they bring nearly 50 years of professional experience to Assisting Hands to provide non-medical in-home healthcare in the privacy of a client’s home or Assisted Living Facility, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight care.

“We are also taking a focused approach to serve Veterans because there are two programs we can help them with: Aid & Attendance and Homemaker Program,” Jennifer shares.

“First we want to educate Veterans and their families and assist them with the process to get qualified for free benefits to help them age at home.”

Assisting Hands caregivers go through an extensive training program and are also connected in the healthcare community providing further assistance with coordinating services such as rehabilitation, assisted living, palliative care, hospice and even non medical services such as financial, beauty salons, etc. They are licensed through the Illinois Department of Public Health and accept long term care insurance, VA and private pay.

Jennifer shares one of her favorite quotes that represents how she and Paulina run Assisting Hands, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel" - Maya Angelou. “My goal is to make people smile and make people feel cared about.”

Both Jennifer and Paulina have extremely strong personal family support systems and understand how important peace of mind is when caring for a loved one. They exemplify customer service and true compassion and care and are available 24/7 to help you along the way.
