WHAT TO EXPECT | As Salons Get Ready to Reopen, Here's What Will Be Different

TWO AREA SALONS SHARE ON REOPENING JUNE 1

Many local residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening of their favorite salon or spa since Gov. JB Pritzker announced his plan for reopening the state using a five-phase protocol.

As part of Phase Two, non-essential retail businesses were able to open for pickup and delivery, but salons were not included in this Phase, which began in early May. This has no doubt been hard on area salon owners, managers and stylists, as well as the clients who have been missing the salon and spa experience since the shut-down in mid-March.

With the announcement that our communities will soon be ready to enter Phase Three, salons and spas are now set to reopen June 1 and 10-person, non-essential gatherings will now be permitted, but the salon experience will no-doubt be very different.

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT

According to the rules and considerations set by Gov. JB Pritzker, salon goers can expect to be greeted with a series of changes. He encourages guests to wait in their car until their appointment time, and also wants salon employees to check guest temperatures as they arrive, ask questions to each person about their recent health, and consider sneeze shields at each station. Other items are required, such as wearing a mask for both salon workers and the guests who visit.

Amber Waves, Naperville

We caught of up with two well-loved area salons in DuPage and Kane Counties that are busy preparing to re-open, Amber Waves and Zano Salon & Spa. Amber Waves, located in downtown Naperville, is ready to open their doors and plans to have all necessary PPE in place.

“We took the time we were away from the salon to rejuvenate, refresh, spend some quality time with our families and practice virtual team building. It also gave us time to fully clean and sanitize our salon space, we are ready to open our doors with all necessary PPE in place. We look forward to connecting with our guests again," said Shannon Drexler, Owner of Amber Waves Salon, located at 232 S. Washington in Naperville.

Zano Salon & Spa

Zano’s Salon & Spa with multiple west suburban locations, is also ready to reopen and wants guests to feel safe and comfortable as they make plans to visit their salon & spa.

“You can only imagine how thrilled we will be once we are back serving our community! Our newest value and focus is Safety First for all of our staff and all our guests. We will be practicing all protocols for our guests to be in a safe environment and feel comfortable being serviced by our team of professionals. If our customers have missed us in their need for our services, we want them to know that we have missed them more! We can’t wait till we are back together again on June 1,” shared Denise Provenzano, owner of Zanos Salons & Spas, located in Naperville, Lisle and Batavia.
