SUNDAY AFTERNOON | Reports of Many Local Shopping Centers, Malls and Retails Locations Shutting Down

COUNTLESS RETAIL LOCATIONS CLOSING ON WHAT SHOULD BE A BUSY DAY OF SHOPPING

There have been many confirmed and unconfirmed reports of local area shopping locations shutting down in preparation for the possibility of looters and rioters moving towards the western suburbs Sunday afternoon. This includes the closing of the ramps at I-88 and Farnsworth Road near Premium Outlet Malls in Aurora; the closure of Oakbrook Center; the closure of Walmart in Darien; the closure of Best Buy in Downers Grove; the closure of Walmart in Glen Ellyn; the closure of Target in North Aurora; the closure of Blaine's Farm & Fleet in Montgomery; the closure of several locations in the Orland Park area.

Orland Park Police Department shared that Orland Square Mall was hit by rioters earlier, sharing this in social media.

ALERT: Over the last few days, many cities in the U.S. have seen demonstrations, many turning violent, over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. At this hour, similar events are occurring near Orland Square Mall and near 159th/LaGrange. The Orland Park Police Department is working to address these issues. Many stores have closed for the day, please check the Village’s social media pages for updates. Please avoid the mall area as well as 159th/LaGrange as there is active police activity. Thank you for your cooperation. Please call 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency.

Village of Willowbrook shared the following in social media today:

WILLOWBROOK PD: There are reports of large groups of roving protesters heading to the south east DuPage area. As such, please stay close to home and stay safe. Spread the word.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Follow us in social media at Glancer Magazine or our facebook group at Glancer Magazine. We encourage our readers to stay clear from shopping areas today in light of these recent developments.
