SAYING GOODBYE | Rick Rosati, CEO of Chicago-Based Rosati's Pizza Dies at Age 70

SAYING GOODBYE TO AN AMAZING BUSINESS MAN

Sad news is reaching residents in the Chicagoland area today as we learn of the passing of Fredric "Rick" Rosati, CEO of the national pizza restaurant group Rosati's Pizzai. He died suddenly at home in Cave Creek, AZ at age 70. His obituary gives us a look at just how special Rick was.

Born on December 31, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Fred and Theresa Rosati. Rick grew up in Riverside, where he loved playing baseball, and was passionate about the Chicago Cubs. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Sacred Heart Seminary, and UIC with studies in business. Rick always knew he wanted to own and operate his own Pizza Restaurant. From 8 years of age his friends fondly referred to him as “Pizza”. Rick started his pizza career working part-time at the age of 14 at the first Rosati's in Mount Prospect. At age 20, he left UIC to pursue his passion and joined the family business. In 1970, he opened his first Rosati’s Pizza in Arlington Heights, IL. He continued to grow the business with the help of his parents and siblings. From there, Rosati’s Franchise was born.

His obituary reads, Rick had an intense work ethic and business acumen. When he wasn’t behind an oven or in the office, you could find him in Door County fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time with his loving family and friends. Rick was referred to as the favorite uncle. Never having children of his own, he often spent free time with his nieces and nephews taking walks, golf cart rides, fishing, and having meaningful talks. His wise counsel, his generous nature, and his wonderful outlook on life were unmatched.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd. Schaumburg, IL 60195.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Stella Maris Parish-Sister Bay site, 2410 S. Bay Shore Dr., Sister Bay, WI 54234 with Fr. Thomas Farrell as celebrant. Rick will be laid to rest in St. Rosalia Cemetery in Sister Bay, beside his father, Fred.
