WHAT'S HOT & WHAT'S NOT IN KITCHEN TRENDS

So, you are contemplating some kitchen updates & you’ve heard the whole gray/white thing is on its way out? Not necessarily! All white EVERYTHING is definitely over, as designers reintroduce color! White cabinets offer a clean, classic look & will never go out of style, but gray cabinetry is becoming the new neutral of choice. Contrasting color on the island, whether it is off black, dark gray or blue adds interest. Trending in 2023, is the tres chic natural wood cabinetry that adds a warm cozy factor. Popular choices are grained walnut or white oak. Quartz countertops still reign, but the variety with more color veining has become more popular than the all white.

Oh, the backsplash! Here is the perfect opportunity to add a pop of personality to your kitchen! Subway tile backsplashes are a great basic, inexpensive, offer a clean look & will never go out of style, BUT, how about a colorful patterned tile? Or subway tile laid in a herringbone pattern. The art deco tiles are making their way off of our bathroom floors onto kitchen backsplashes. For a sleek city look, a solid marble backsplash lends to sophistication. Travertine tile – OUT!

Everything AND the kitchen sink! Farm sinks with an apron are out. Currently the most popular sink style is a large single stainless steel tub. If it is a “workstation” meaning it comes with colander & cutting board, even better! This isn’t your Grandma’s kitchen sink & you should only have 1 hole for the faucet that includes a pull down spray feature. The faucet should also be 18” or taller to accommodate big pots.

Add some PIZZAZZ! The hardware & light fixtures! Brushed nickel will always be a safe choice. You almost can’t order oil rubbed bronze as it is being replaced by the two darlings of 2023, matte black & brushed modern brass – Voila!
