NEW TO LOMBARD | Chicago's Iconic Rainbow Cone Opens Its Second Chicagoland Area Location

AFTER 95 YEARS, ICONIC RAINBOW CONE OPENS STORE NO. 2

Since 1926, Chicago's iconic Rainbow Cone has drawn pastel ice cream-lovers from far and wide to its pink, pastel-ified store on South Western Avenue in South Side. But now, nearly 100 years later, the brand is adding a second location on East Roosevelt Road in Lombard, essentially extending the rainbow across Chi-town, according to a news release.

The restaurant, which features a trademark stacked cone with chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio and orange sherbet, will open the morning of May 5 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and lots of giveaways.

The Lombard location will feature Rainbow Cone's vibrant colors in the interior, and pink and white polka dots outside, to set the store off from its more downplayed Lombard neighbors. The store seats 50 indoors and feature an expansive patio and the brand's first drive-thru.

To celebrate the grand opening, Rainbow Cone will host a social media giveaway on its Instagram and Facebook platform with three people getting free ice cream for a year. The company said it's working to expand its presence through even adding ice cream trucks, though no timeline was provided. The Original Rainbow Cone is also available for nationwide shipping via Goldbelly. –QSRweb.com
