NAPERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT | Remembering those Killed On this Day In the Line of Duty



WE REMEMBER THEM TODAY AND EVERYDAY

On December 7, 1970 at 7:55 a.m., the Naperville fire department received a call for a house fire west of the city. enroute to the call, the truck was involved in an accident. Naperville Fire Department Lieutenant Richard Rechenmacher, Engineer Jerry Herring, and Firefighter Bernard Petrowski died in the line of duty in the accident. We remember them today and every day. May you rest in eternal peace.


Earlier today, a ceremony was held to to honor these fallen heroes. The Naperville Fire Department held a special ceremony t Fireman’s Memorial Park to view a new sculpture paying tribute to firefighters who lost their lives in line of duty.
