CHICAGO–Nestled amidst the bustling streets of Bucktown lies a hidden gem and unique blend of leisure and competition. Founded on the principles of camaraderie and recreation, the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking an escape from the ordinary.

I hadn’t played shuffleboard since I was 10! When we first walked in we were immediately transported to a world where

time slows down, and enjoyment takes center stage. The ambiance is inviting, with vintage decor and a laid-back atmosphere that instantly makes you feel like you’re on vacation.

At the heart of the club lies its crown jewel: the shuffleboard courts. We were seated in Cabana 9 which was situated in an elevated platform above the courts. Our host presented a signature cocktail menu, in addition to the full service bar options. In addition, he pointed out the food truck tucked ever so neatly on the side inside a heated garage; the vintage Viewmasters situated inside the ivy, the glamorous Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club selfie spot with silly props and a hula hoop; and the super sized Connect Four games.

Next, they demonstrated the basic rules of shuffleboard, including scoring, and we then divided into teams and slid our way to victory. The strategic nature of shuffleboard was perfect for our very competitive group which kept the players on their toes until the final point was scored.

Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club offers more than just a place to play; it's a social hub where memories are made and a DJ plays. The background music is set at just the right level so you can appreciate the beats, while also hearing your friends talk!

To top it off, there is an amazing rooftop built for summer fun including another court, special events, and a bonus bar making this venue the perfect fit for any season of the year.

In the end, we had a blast! A fantastic modern twist on an old sport! Whether you're seeking an afternoon of friendly competition or a night of revelry, you're sure to find exactly what you're looking for at this regal retreat in the heart of Bucktown.
