Enjoy these Must-Attend June and Early July Events

Glen Ellyn–Embrace the peak of summer with a series of events hosted by the Glen Ellyn Park District in June and early July. Highlights include Summer Break at the Lake featuring live music from 7th Heaven and the Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk.

Glen Ellyn Park District’s Movie in the Park: The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Date: Wednesday, June 5

Time: 7:30 pm

Location: Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road

Join us for an outdoor screening of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" in the park. Remember to bring your own chairs or blankets for a comfortable viewing experience. We also suggest packing bug spray and your favorite movie snacks and beverages. This event is open to all ages. No registration is required, and admission is free. Location: Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Avenue

Dive into summer break with friends! Take over Sunset Pool with other middle schoolers and enjoy a night of swimming, games, and fun. This event is for children ages 10 to 14, and adults/caregivers must be present for check-in and check-out. Registration is required. The fee is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Location: Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Avenue

Enjoy reduced noise levels with no music, water features, or whistles (except for emergencies), and limited interruptions. Perfect for those who find regular pool hours overwhelming, this evening offers a gentler experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Sensory Swim Night is open to all ages. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Thirsty Thursday on the Deck

Location: Lake Ellyn Boathouse, 645 Lenox Road

Sip craft beer and wine from The Beer Cellar on the Lake Ellyn Boathouse deck and patio! Enjoy the view, the company, live entertainment, and complimentary light snacks. This event is for adults ages 21 and over. Registration is required, and the $15 fee per person includes your first drink ticket. Location: Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road

Spend an evening at Ackerman SFC filled with bingo, pizza, and prizes. Several rounds will be played, and prizes like gift cards and candy will be awarded at the end of each round. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Gone Fishin’ Derby

Date: Saturday, June 15

Time: 8-9:30 am

Location: Lake Ellyn Boathouse, 645 Lenox Road

Cast your lines at our catch-and-release fishing derby! You’ll have an hour to catch as many fish as you can. Prizes will be awarded for the largest, smallest, and most fish caught in three age groups: 3-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-12 years, as well as for the overall 'Best Dressed Angler.' The registration fee includes bait, snacks, and activities (note: participants must bring their own fishing poles). This event is for children ages 3-12, accompanied by an adult. Bring sunshine to someone in need this June! Take part in the Glen Ellyn Park District’s blood and food drive. Donate nonperishable food items and toiletries to help fill the shelves at Glen House Food Pantry. Appointments are recommended for blood donations, but walk-ups are welcome. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Summer Break at the Lake

Kick off the weekend with live music from 7th Heaven, delicious food trucks, and drinks at Summer Break at the Lake. The Beer Cellar, Two Hound Red, and Common Good Cocktail House will be selling drinks, while a variety of food trucks offer food for purchase. Bring a chair or blanket to hang out on the lawn. Gates open at 5 pm. This event is for adults ages 21 and over. Registration is required, and the fee is $10 per person. Limited tickets are available at the door for $15 (cash only). Kids between the ages of 9-12 can experience an awesome night on the course with friends. At Tween Golf, they will play unlimited mini golf, have a chance at winning prizes, and enjoy a pizza dinner with pop and chips. Adults must accompany their kids for check-in and checkout. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk

Date: Thursday, July 4

Time: 7:30 am

Location: Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road

Start your July 4th holiday at the Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk, a family-friendly event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation’s Scholarship Fund, providing access to Glen Ellyn Park District recreation and athletic programs for families in need. The race kicks off at 7:30 am, with awards presented. The registration fee includes entry into the race and a t-shirt. This event is open to ages 5 and up, and registration is required. Sign up by June 24 to get the early bird price of $27 per person. Registration is accepted online right up until the start of the race. Visit www.FreedomFourRun.com

Kids can swing over to Holes & Knolls for a night out with their friends. They’ll participate in challenges, compete to win prizes, and then have pizza and a soft drink of their choice.
