GLANCING THE GALLANT | Naperville Dad & Daughter Win 2nd Place In 'Shelter In Place' Dance Challenge

MEET JASON AND OLIVIA WOODS OF NAPERVILLE

Naperville residents, Olivia (6 ½) and her dad, Jason Woods are the second-place winners of the “Shelter In Place” family dance off challenge hosted by Steps Dance Center in Aurora where Olivia is a member of the Petite Jazz and Boogie Effect dance companies.

Although Olivia had already been competing the “Jump” dance, choreographed by her teachers, Emily Rosenberg and Ashley Michalek, she had only two days to teach her dad plus ensure he had a complimenting costume.

The two enjoy their time together so much, Jason and she also participate in the Daddy Daughter Dance class at Steps Dance Center, where together they attend sessions to prepare for a competition routine.

Since the “Stay at Home” order, Steps Dance Center interaction has been ongoing with virtual classrooms of activities and exercises to maintain technique and encourage fun through virtual experiences.

The Woods family is busy balancing work and home life during this challenging time. When not dancing, Olivia’s mom, Michelle and little brother, Owen (4 ½) join in playing board games, building Legos, cooking, baking, watching movies, building forts, and completing crafts. The family hopes to return to cheer, hockey, t-ball, swimming or other sports/activities very soon!
