GIVING BACK | Community Helps Family-Owned Bakery, Owner on Life Support Fighting COVID-19

CHUCK KALOUSEK IS IN THE BATTLE OF HIS LIFE AGAINST COVID-19

Chuck Kalousek, owner and baker at Ingram’s Busy Bee Bakery in Downers Grove, has become very ill with COVID-19. A GoFund Me page has been started to help his family during this very trying time. According to the family, the local entrepreneur battled the virus valiantly for 16 days before having to be put on a ventilator. He is currently in dire straits while they determine if he will be able to receive a lung transplant.

WGN featured the story this week in a special news segment (see link below) as the community rallies together to help raise much needed funds as Chuck remains on life support. The page notes that the family is in desperately in need of prayers, as they are heart broken as they deal with how much suffering Chuck has endured while battling COVID-19 in intensive care.

Residents of Downers Grove are saddened to hear what the Kalousek's are going through, as Busy Bee has been providing baked goods to the community for over 24 years. Chuck has selflessly given time and talent to provide a service for the community and he and his wife Katie (Stopka) have been beyond dedicated through the years. The GoFund Me page shared the following about Chuck:

"For those family and friends that know the Kalousek family personally, they know of his sacrifices, his selflessness, his kindness, his dedication, love of family and his sense of humor. We are praying that Chuck will be able to be with his family again - smiling, laughing and returning to his life's passion at Busy Bee Bakery."

The community can support Chuck and his family by making a donation on the GoFund Me page. Prayers and positive thoughts for healing are also appreciated to help this local family through these very difficult days ahead.
