GENEVA | Police Investigating Death Of An Infant

INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING

GENEVA–Geneva Police and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the death of a 10-week-old infant Sept. 22. Just before 5 a.m., Geneva police officers and paramedics responded to a parking lot in the 1100 block of East State Street (Route 38) for a report of the infant boy not breathing. Bria of Geneva Health Services staff called 911 after a woman had brought the boy inside the facility looking for medical assistance.

Paramedics initially attempted to resuscitate the boy in the parking lot before transporting him to Northwestern Medical Delnor Hospital in Geneva. The hospital’s emergency staff also attempted to revive the boy before he was pronounced dead. The preliminary investigation is focused on the possibility of a tragic accident; however, the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed. The boy’s family is cooperating with the investigation, and there is no danger to the general public. The Kane County Coroner’s Office will be performing an autopsy on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
