COVID-19 | State Opens Drive-Thru COVID Testing Site in Aurora



TESTING IS FREE - SITE TO SERVE UP TO 600 PEOPLE PER DAY

Today, Governor JB Pritzker announced the opening of a new COVID-19 Community Testing Site in Aurora. The new site is open seven days per week at the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall, 1650 Premium Outlet Blvd, and will serve up to 600 people per day. Testing is free. “We need to make testing more convenient for the community,” said Governor Pritzker during his daily press conference. “Today, in Aurora we opened a new drive-thru facility at the Chicago Premium Outlet Mall that can take 600 specimens a day.”

Operations at the site are managed by the Illinois National Guard with traffic management and security assistance from the Aurora Police Department.



"I am so proud to see this phenomenal state testing site open today in the state’s second largest city," said Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin during a press briefing at the site this afternoon. "Testing is a key step to preventing the community spread of COVID-19 we are experiencing in Illinois and throughout the country. Aurora is proud to partner with the State of Illinois and the Illinois National Guard to host this site right here in our community."

Testing Location and Times: · Chicago Premium Outlet Mall | 1650 Premium Outlet Blvd. | Aurora, IL 60502 · Enter from Farnsworth Ave. only · 8a.m. to 4 p.m. (or earlier if testing capacity is reached) · 7 days per week Tests can be taken by: · All individuals with symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, fever), including but not limited to, senior citizens and people with underlying conditions. · All healthcare workers and first responders regardless of symptoms Type of Test:

· All tests are self-administered swabs. Each person getting tested will be handed the swabs and directions through their car window. They will then have to swab their own nose and place it back in the bottle. Testing is free.

Testing Protocol: · This is a DRIVE-THRU ONLY testing facility · Anyone who will be tested MUST BE SEATED AT A FUNCTIONING WINDOW in a vehicle · NO WALK-UPS can be accepted for safety reasons

· Persons getting tested will be asked to SHOW PHOTO IDENTIFICATION or healthcare/first responder ID/badge, if applicable. · Tests are taken on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE BASIS. Facility will close by 4 p.m. or when testing capacity is reached for the day, whichever comes first. Please Note:

· Due to the demand service, wait times can be significant. Please be patient. · If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you are urged to call your doctor or emergency department to seek immediate care and instructions.
