COVER STORY | Moving Forward: Brian Green

LOCAL ENTREPRENEUR THANKS HIS TEAM AND LOYAL CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT

DOWNERS GROVE/BATAVIA–Batavia resident and Downers Grove business owner, Brian Green is driven, passionate, and creative and it is it these three qualities that have allowed him to keep his dream alive throughout the pandemic.

As the owner of Capri in Downers Grove, which was established in April 2009, Brian was fortunate to remain open this past year. Using his creative abilities, he never completely shut down and shifted gears to offer his authentic Italian cuisine via services like curbside pickup and Uber Eats.

“There’s no doubt the pandemic has had a lasting impact on the restaurant industry, including Capri,” he says. “During this time, I couldn’t believe the wonderful support we received from Capri followers and new customers; it’s what kept me from not giving in.”

He also contributes the government and local grant opportunities, but most importantly, his staff, as key factors to helping him keep his business alive.

“I’m absolutely grateful to my parents, family, staff, and the community,” Brian humbling shares. “The lesson this past year is to stay true to our customer base. Quality of product and portion sizes must stay the same. They will always know but may not tell you. You can lose them forever that way.”

He plans to continue to diversify his offerings by featuring items like king crab legs, jumbo prawns, oysters, fresh fish, steak & chops; as well as continue to give back to the community by opening his restaurant doors and offering complimentary menu items to striving entrepreneurs to benefit their future. He has also donated menu items to Downers Grove Good Samaritan Hospital and served complimentary lunches to staff and faculty members at Downers Grove North High School, St. Mary’s, and St. Joseph’s grade schools to show his appreciation in all they do for the children.
