JOY FOR THE BELLY & SOUL
NAPERVILLE–Water Street Downtown Naperville and the famed Riverwalk are getting a sweet new addition to the neighborhood—Ben & Jerry’s! The legendary ice cream full of chunks and swirls will soon be available at a Scoop Shop adjacent to Hotel Indigo Naperville Riverwalk. Owners Tom and Chrissy O’Toole hope to open their doors before the end of May.
“We can’t wait to serve up funky flavors and great big smiles on Water Street,” said Chrissy. She and her husband have been working tirelessly to transform the Water Street location into a full-blown Ben & Jerry’s experience, with more than 30 euphoric ice cream flavors and the welcoming smell of waffle cones.
The Scoop Shop will offer limited seating and a robust take-out service for cones, cups, milkshakes, sundaes, pints and ice cream cakes. Customers will be able to order ahead at www.benjerry.com/naperville or at the counter.
Ben & Jerry’s was started in 1979 by two friends in Burlington, Vermont. The small shop built in a converted gas station grew to international fame based on unusual flavor combinations and names like Chunky Monkey and Chubby Hubby. Today, Ben & Jerry’s is sold in 35 countries and uses the power of its business to create progressive social change.
The O’Tooles say they hope to have a “soft opening” for family and friends at the end of May, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled for June 12. They’re looking forward to their first big summer season: “We want to scoop up as much joy as possible,” Tom said. The Scoop Shop will be open 11 am-10 pm, Monday through Thursday; 11:00 am-11 pm on Friday and Saturday; and 12 pm -9 pm on Sunday.
