CELEBRATING WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH | We are Women Art Exhibit Collaboration In Wheaton

30 PIECES OF ARTWORK ON DISPLAY THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN WHEATON

In honor of Women’s History Month, community members can enjoy 30 pieces of artwork from Wheaton Women Artists displayed across downtown women-owned, Wheaton Storefronts now through March 31st.

The Downtown Wheaton Association along with the DuPage Art League and the City of Wheaton Government Community Relations Commission present the We Are Women Art Exhibit! The exhibit features artwork from some of DuPage Art League’s talented female artists in the storefronts of some of Wheaton’s female-owned businesses.

Most of the artwork is for sale with prices ranging from $20 through $1400 and can be found at Dry City Brew Works, DuPage Art League, Frocks & Frills Vintage, Jeans and a Cute Top Shop, Kimmer’s Ice Cream, Sweet Natalie’s Gluten Free Bakery, Suzette’s Creperie, The Perfect Thing, and Wyckwood House.

Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week”; subsequently, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.

Featured local artists include Ellen Rottsolk, Susan McLean, Maeva Cook, Diana Mitchell, Danielle Crilly, Margaret Bucholz, Liesl Mann, Carol Kincaid, and Peg Sindelar. Displayed artwork can be found in all mediums such as pastels, photographs, oils, acrylics, giclee prints, and more and range in sizes.
