CARJACKING PREVENTION | Seminars Taking Place to Teach Situational Awareness

Local security agency, DuPage Krav Maga to host 2 sessions for public due to 700% surge in these crimes

NAPERVILLE – RJM Strategy Group and DuPage Krav Maga are partnering to offer critical training on situational awareness for the public related to carjackings and how to navigate these dangerous and emotionally-charged situations.

Two sessions will be held: one on Thursday, September 30 and another on Friday, October 1; both will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm at DuPage Krav Maga located at 22W580 Poss Street in Glen Ellyn.

Instruction will be led by retired police officers, Chuck May and Ray McGury, who bring a combined 60 years of law enforcement experience and knowledge for the benefit of seminar participants.

“There has been a 700% increase in carjackings in the Chicago-metro area over the past year,” explained May. “With the tremendous increase in these types of crimes, it’s crucial for everyone to understand how to respond should they find themselves the victim of a carjacking.”

The seminar, which is for ages 16 and up, will consist of instruction, discussion and some real-life scenarios that will take place in an actual vehicle to demonstrate various scenarios and possible responses designed to help victims survive the situation, minimize potential injuries and be safe. Participants should dress in whatever type of attire they typically wear during the day.

The cost is attend is $30/person; payment can be made via cash or check. As space is limited, reservations are requested by emailing or calling 630-360-1965; payment will be taken on site prior to the start of the seminar.

Special thanks to Pugi Motors of Downers Grove for their support of these programs by providing the vehicles used in the training.
