CAL'S ANGELS | NFP Launches The “Be Bold Go Gold” Challenge For Pediatric Cancer Awareness

SEPTEMBER IS PEDIATRIC CANCER AWAERNESS MONTH

CHICAGO — In honor of September’s Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, the local Chicago nonprofit, Cal’s Angels—a pediatric cancer foundation with a mission of granting wishes, raising awareness, and funding research to help kids fighting cancer— is challenging you to Be Bold Go Goldand raise necessary funds for an essential cause. The gold ribbon is the international awareness symbol of childhood cancer.

The challenge is simple: Pick four personal records to beat anytime starting September 1 through September 30. No challenge is too big or too small—it can consist of running four extra miles, reading four more books, committing to four good deeds, trying four new recipes, and much more. The significance of the number ‘four’ is that 4% of federal cancer funding is dedicated to pediatric cancer.

Cal’s Angels is encouraging you to “be bold” and ask friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to sponsor you as you beat your four personal records in support of Pediatric Cancer Awareness. The goal of this fundraiser is to fund research and programs to find a cure and new treatments with the Cal’s Angels Drug Discovery Fund in partnership with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

“For too many children, their greatest personal record in life is not during track and field day, but the chance to beat cancer,” says President and Co-Founder, Stacey Wahlberg “We’re hopeful that by launching this challenge we can accomplish two goals: showing what it means to beat personal records — drawing awareness for pediatric cancer but also normalizing that we’re all fighting different battles — while raising necessary funds to help those deserving children beat cancer.”

Participants can register online and set up a donation page or share your personal records with Cal’s Angels so they may inspire others to do the same.
