A TRUE HERO | Today John Cebulski Retired, a Henry Pratt First Responder Who Was Shot In the Knee

As featured on AUrora Police Department's social media post, earlier today, Officer John Cebulski went 10-42 for last time as he retired from the Aurora Police Department after more than 32 years of service.


Officer Cebulski was one of the first officers on the scene on the day of the Henry Pratt mass shooting on February 15, 2019. When he got inside the building, Officer Cebulski was shot in his knee by the suspect.


John Cebulski was appointed as a police officer for the City of Aurora Police Department on August 22, 1988. John's career has spanned many areas within the department from Patrol, Investigations - Domestic Violence Reduction Unit (DVRU) and Evidence. He was an APPO Board Member, Field Training Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, Street Evidence Technician and a member of the PBPA. Officer John J. Cebulski has served the department honorably for 32 years and six days.


APD commended Officer Cebulski for his many years of service to the Aurora Police Department and the citizens of Aurora! Best of luck in your retirement, Officer Cebulski.
