ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION | Wheaton Police Ask Residents for Help

POLICE RESPOND TO REPORTED ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION IN WHEATON
On June 7, 2019, at approximately 9:46 p.m., officers from the Wheaton Police Department responded to the 300 block of S. Pierce for a reported attempted child abduction.

It was reported that a female child was playing in the driveway of the residence when she heard a noise. She turned and saw a white male running toward her. The male had a medium build and was wearing a green, white, and red bandanna around his neck with a white jacket and green shirt. The child ran into her house, and no words were exchanged.

The child returned outside with a flashlight to search for a family pet. As she was searching for the pet, it is reported she was approached from behind and scratched on her arm before being grabbed on the arm. The child was able to free herself and run inside her home. A dark-colored sedan was seen in the area earlier, but it is unknown if it was involved in the reported incident.

The police department continues to investigate the report and encourages anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Bill Cooley at (630) 260-2077.
