GIVING BACK WILL BE AT THE TOP OF THEIR LIST THIS SUMMER
The foundation of the Byers family is helping others.
“We are more about what can we do with our kids to show them it is not just adults that can make a difference,” Jennifer says. “We try to show them that every little bit helps in some way, even if it is just extending a smile to someone.”
Jennifer, Kent, Katie (11) and Karly (9) have been a part of Naperville’s Safety Town for the past seven years, volunteering with the Naperville Junior Woman’s Club programming while Jennifer also serves as the Events and Fundraising Coordinator. Additionally, the family volunteers with Bike Bald, the 3:11 Project, the K9 Enrichment Initiative, and the Naperville Marathon.
By day, Jennifer runs her own floral consulting business, Flowers By Jen, and Kent works for the federal government. Because balancing work-life and home-life can be challenging, family dinners at Braconi’s in Naperville or Basil’s in Aurora helps keep them all connected when the kids aren’t at gymnastics, archery, or Girl Scouts.
In the summertime, they enjoy area farmers markets, fireworks at RibFest, riding bikes on local trails, visiting water parks, and relaxing with neighbors in their cul-du-sac.
