KANE COUNTY | ISGVT Endorsed Candidates Achieve Historic Win

INDEPENDENTS FOR SUGAR GROVE VILLAGE TRUSTEE (ISGVT) ENDORSED CANDIDATES ACHIEVE HISTORIC WIN

SUGAR GROVE–Independents for Sugar Grove Village Trustee’s (ISGVT) three endorsed candidates for the office of Sugar Grove Village Trustee were all successful in the Kane County Consolidated Election on April 2, 2019.

According to the Kane County Clerk, as of 10:01pm on Tuesday incumbent Heidi Lendi led all candidates with 766 votes. Write in candidates Ryan Walter and Jennifer Konen received 554 and 513 votes, respectively. These vote totals are unofficial and subject to change as absentee ballots continue to arrive by mail prior to the canvass and subsequent certification of the election.

All three candidates supported ISGVT’s four-point platform for thoughtful progress in Sugar Grove:

  • Rejection of any development proposal that does not adequately reflect the legitimate interests of Sugar Grove’s current residents

  • Opposition to the creation of any tax-increment financing (TIF) districts that are not in the best interests of our taxpayers and governmental bodies

  • Commencement of a review of the village’s Comprehensive Plan (Ordinance 2018-403C) that meaningfully engages with all stakeholders in the community to arrive at a truly shared vision for our village, as was done in the past

  • In all matters, providing an independent voice that asks tough questions and makes fact-based decisions for the long-term that are fair to all of the village’s stakeholders

“This truly was a team effort across our many volunteers and supporters, and I thank them wholeheartedly” said Trustee-elect Jennifer Konen. Heidi Lendi commented that “I’m humbled by the confidence my fellow citizens have shown by returning me to office.” Ryan Walter said “I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve and represent our community well as Village Trustee.”

Jim Huguelet, Director of ISGVT, said “We extend our congratulations to Heidi, Jennifer, and Ryan on their victory, as well as thank Mari Johnson and David Paluch for their service to our Village. We also thank Alex Kline-Wedeen on running a great campaign. We now ask all of Sugar Grove to come together to support our incoming Trustees and work towards a shared vision for our Village.”
