MODERN WOMEN | Meet Kerry O’Brien of Wheaton

WHEATON–As the Executive Director of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Kerry’s main role is to implement the vision that the Board of Directors has for the organization. While the Directors are volunteers, Kerry is a paid professional specializing in organization management and monitors trends and practices that benefit the business community.

Mom to three children, Tori (26), Kelton (25), and Callie (23); as well as grandma to two, she understands more than ever that balance is fleeting, motion is constant.

“It is better for me to be aware the cycles and rhythms of life than to focus on those brief moments of balance,” she says. “My children and grandchildren remind me how important it is to make play a part of our days. Joy is such a precious ingredient in life so we must make room for it.”

Over the years Kerry has found it gratifying to be engaged with the community through volunteering and has served as an athletic coach, taught religious education, and led neighborhood social groups. Today she is thrilled to be part Wheaton Warrenville Early Childhood Collaboration; Ready Nation; as well as, coach for the high school INCubator.edu program and elementary school entrepreneur program Madison Inc. in CUSD 200.
