FABULOUS FAMILY | Living In a Container Home and Loving It

MEET THE EVANS FAMILY WHO BUILT A UNIQUE CONTAINER HOME & LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT ST. CHARLES– Stephanie is a Barre and yoga instructor for PEAK at a local studio in St Charles and Clark is an engineer. They recently moved to St. Charles from Geneva with their two sons– the oldest, Eli, is very involved Kyuki-Do martial artist and also versed in Spanish, Abram, soccer and swimming.

Living with a family philosophy of, “Try it before you decide you don’t like it,” the Evans took on the challenge of building a container home in St. Charles with their construction company, Group3 Construction in Geneva.

After purchasing the containers from the south side, previously used to transport goods overseas, Stephanie and Clark met with a structural engineer to assist with the support beam and column placement.

After 2.5 years of finding the right location, working through the design and approval process, and taking 7 months to remodel the container, the Evans family loves the uniqueness and character of their 4,000 square foot container home which includes a basement and coach home!

“We embraced the challenge to be able to take these containers, deconstruct them and rebuild them into a home,” Stephanie shares. “We were not inhibited by imagination and loved being able to create this home from design layout to construction, and then watch our vision come to life.”

Stephanie loves that the kitchen is such a strong focal point of the home, while Clark will argue the best feature is the garage because it is oversized and every bit of man luxury. Collectively they both love the original floors that are one of a kind with large wood planks and ribbons of steel. “They are stunning!”

This 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2-story container home has ample storage and modern amenities meeting all the needs of this suburban family of four. –Kristen Kucharski,
