NPD SEEKING WITNESSES IN SHOOTING INCIDENT OF SUICIDAL MAN

On Wednesday, January 23, at approximately 10:30pm., Naperville Police responded to the 1200 block of west Ogden Ave. (a commercial strip mall), for a report of a suspicious subject. Shortly thereafter, the subject was located in the parking lot holding a firearm to his head. Naperville Police Officers attempted to speak with the subject, a 27-year-old white male. He then advanced on the officers and pointed the firearm directly at them. One of the officers discharged their firearm, striking the subject. Once secure, the subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment, where he remains in serious, but stable condition. The firearm possessed by the subject was recovered on scene. No Naperville Police personnel or other persons were injured during this incident. The DuPage Major Crimes Task Force and State’s Attorney’s office were immediately notified and are conducting the investigation into this incident.
