THE SHOWALTER FAMILY | Having Fun Together In North Naperville

SHARING A LOVE FOR HARD WORK, LAUGHTER & COOL eBAY FINDS NORTH NAPERVILLE–Tricia never imagined she would meet the love of her life at The Hangge-Uppe in Chicago. Rick dreamed of being a professional musician and was finishing his degree at DePaul University; Tricia was a budding elementary school teacher in the Chicago Public School System.

They dated only four months before their engagement; but don’t let the stereotypes of meeting a starving artist in a bar and getting married quickly fool you – Tricia and Rick recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary with their three daughters, thematically named Melody, Jazzmin, and Cadence!

Perhaps it was getting married on the wedding anniversary of Rick’s parents and grandparents, or allowing each other to follow their passions; but, Tricia and Rick can still make each other laugh! They have always shared a love of hard work and encouraged their daughters to do the same. The twins, Melody and Jazzmin, both recently graduated from Illinois State University with Bachelor of Science Degrees, pursuing International Business and Elementary Education respectively.

Cadence is a sophomore participating in swimming and water polo events at Naperville Central, and is a member of the Maverick and Carriage Hill Cardinals swim teams.

Life is busy, but the Showalter’s don’t sweat the small stuff. Rick is a school bus driver for Naperville 203 and also teaches bass lessons in downtown Naperville at Sound Summit. His passion for music paid off as the band, Liquid Soul, was Grammy Nominated in 2000 and he still plays bass at a variety of local music venues such as, Potters, Jimmy's Bar and Grill, and Quigley's Irish Pub.

After buying a storage unit sight unseen, the family also operates a local E-Bay business named Ricky's Relics (www.ebay.com/str/rickysrelics) highlighting Kodachrome slides for train enthusiasts, Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books.

True love, perseverance, and lots of play! –Kristen Kucharski
