THE ASHBY FAMILY | Loving their Colorful Life Together in South Naperville

SHARING A LOVE FOR TOGETHERNESS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP NORTH NAPERVILLE–“These four walls”……The Ashby family lives by these words and knows the true meaning simply means that nobody loves you and looks out for you like the family within the four walls of your home.

It all began back in high school when Todd and Katherine went from good friends to dating senior year. They attended prom together in 1986 and on Katherine’s 18th birthday, Todd gave her a diamond necklace and told her that he would marry her someday.

Ten years later, Todd proposed at First St. Paul’s Church in Chicago immediately following his own baptism. They married in their hometown of Evansville, Indiana at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church followed by a honeymoon in Maui.

“Our Christian faith is the central part of our relationship,” Katherine shares.

The family is active members of Good Shepherd Church in Naperville and actively volunteer with their four children, Hannah (19) who currently attends Hope College and is active in her sorority and philanthropy work; Grace (17), a senior at Neuqua involved in Orchestra, Track, and employed at Compass Café; and the twins Jack (15) and Selah (15), both sophomores at Neuqua, are active in volleyball.

As a whole, they all work at their family business, Color Me Mine in Naperville, which they purchased in 2018.

“Being new business owners has been extremely challenging, but we have grown even closer as a family by supporting one another,” Katherine says. “We encourage each other to look for the good in every day. There is nothing like seeing a customer unwrap their finished piece and watching their expression as the delight in their creativity.”

In the end, the family that prays together stays together and the Ashby’s achieve daily fulfillment through work, volunteering at church, Feed My Starving Children, Ready Set Ride Therapeutic, HarborChase, and Girl Scouts. –Kristen Kucharski
