ARMED ROBBERY | Naperville Police Arrest Suspect for Robbery and Aggravated Battery

UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF CASH STOLEN FROM MOBIL

NAPERVILLE — At approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, Naperville Police were called to the Mobil gas station in the 1200 block of West Ogden Avenue for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that an offender had stolen an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register and fled on foot prior to police arrival.

An officer quickly located the suspect several blocks away. After a physical altercation, the suspect was taken into custody and identified as Jeffrey S. Vonderheydt, 49, of Montgomery. Both the officer and Vonderheydt were transported to the hospital with minor injuries resulting from the altercation. The officer was treated and released.

Vonderheydt was treated and then transported to the Naperville Police Department, where he was charged with felony robbery, aggravated battery to peace officer and aggravated resisting a peace officer as well as one misdemeanor count of battery.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
