SUMMER FUN | The Hottest Ice Cream Stops In the Western Suburbs

SUMMER IS FOR ICE CREAM LOVIN'

In 90 degree summer weather, the best way to cool down is by enjoying a scoop or two of indulgent ice cream. Luckily, DuPage has a handful of ice cream options that offer more exciting flavors than just the traditional chocolate and vanilla. These establishments have some of the most imaginative flavors in the county, making for the perfect summer treat.

NOTE: Be sure to check each locations for COVID-19 guidelines and hours.

Andy’s serves a fun twist on traditional ice cream with its famous frozen custard. The store has locations in Naperville and Bolingbrook among many more and, soon, a store in Glen Ellyn will open up. Andy’s is all about the retro vibes with its vintage aesthetics and old school drive-thru inspired architecture. It also has spunky flavors to boot like the Jitterbug Concrete, Rico Suave Jackhammer or old-fashioned malts and freezes.

With locations in downtown Wheaton and St. Charles, Kimmer’s has not only delicious ice cream but an inviting atmosphere as well. The walls are decked in vibrant pink and the flavors are as creative as the décor. There are almost 25 different flavors including a variety of both classic and gourmet. Some of the most original include Parent Trap, Coffee and Donuts, White Chocolate Salty Oatmeal and Aztec Hot Chocolate.

This store has been making delicious ice scream since 1947 and has locations all over America, five of them being in DuPage. Kilwins is notorious for their Original Recipe Ice Cream which they have been perfecting since 1985. Now, they have 40 unique flavors made from the signature Original Recipe in addition to homemade fudge, caramel, and chocolates. Flavors like Mackinac Island Fudge and Turtle Cheesecake are some of their more popular ice cream flavors, plus, there’s a flavor for everyone to enjoy. Kilwins is a truly historic and iconic dessert spot to stop in at this summer.

Graham’s has humble beginnings as it is a family-owned business that started off as a small chocolate shop in the heart of downtown Geneva but has since expanded to Wheaton and hopefully many more DuPage locations. The shop also goes beyond just chocolates and now you can get ice cream just as delicious as their infamous chocolate. For example, the blue moon flavor is to die for as is their spectacular King’s Split which is a banana split with an explosion of peanut butter for all those PB lovers.
