A TASTING EXPERIENCE IN HISTORIC PLAINFIELD Almost fourteen years ago two “clueless chicks”, as they once called themselves, decided to venture into something unlike their commercial banking jobs becoming wine geeks. Wanting to provide a sanctuary for the wine clueless to the connoisseur, these two women established no ordinary wine bar but an oasis for foodies.
Their passion for making people happy is evident the minute you enter this intimate café and wine bar in downtown historic Plainfield. Pairing naturally to the wine is a great selection of artisan cheeses and specialty foods. TCC carries over 40 types of cheeses both domestic and imported. Try the rosemary Manchengo from Spain, smoked blue cheese, Prairie Breeze White Cheddar from Iowa or the apple cinnamon cheddar for something a little different. The Charcuterie includes Ilberico Del Bellota from Spain, Salame di Manzo from Chicago, Heritage Berkshire Prosciutto from Iowa and Speck from Italy. The Marcona almonds fried with prosciutto, Cerignola olives, cheese stuffed Peppadew peppers and Nueske bacon are just a few of our favorites.
Not your typical hummus, the Signature Hummus Plate is a secret recipe topped with feta, peppadew peppers and red onion served with warm pita bread. Chef Cindy Shuler prepares a perfect lunch combo; half a salad or half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. Her culinary expertise is evident tasting the lobster bisque aside the Bacon Cranberry Apple salad a perfect balance of savory and sweet, crunchy and creamy. The Grilled Artisan Cheese Sandwich, melted Gouda between Italian bread with Riesling stone ground mustard, compliments the tomato bisque for a decadent duo. Although you won’t have much room for dessert, the Dark Chocolate Red Wine Truffles are a must!
Using local breweries, coffee roasters and distilleries, craft cocktails are also a specialty. Our favorite is the Apple Cider Margarita. Gather your girlfriends for a wine tasting, cozy up with your love and a cocktail watching passerby, or have lunch with your sister outside on the patio.
