Tasty Spring Things, Glancer Magazine, April 2018

PERFECT FOR SPRING BREAK CLOSE-TO-HOME FUN

WESTERN SUBURBS – It’s time to celebrate Spring! Chicago’s western suburbs are filled with countless things to enjoy, including many that are inspired by tasty treats and scrumptious menus.

Kicking off the season with all things good includes a special-edition Mom & Mini for daughters and sons to enjoy Painting and Pizza on April 22nd at the Chicago Marriott in Naperville. Kids will create a custom painted wine glass for mom, and mom will paint a beautiful vase for their minis. Afterwards, all will enjoy a fun pizza dinner!

For more family fun, head to Maggiano’s Little Italy in Naperville and join the Kids Cooking Class on April 27th. A fun, hands on cooking class where Chef Tom Kuba will teach little ones how to make Stuffed Shells and families will have the option at the end of the evening to leave with a Lasagna Bundle to go!

If you don’t want to work for your meal but still want something tasty and unique, DRM in St. Charles has captured the hearts of the Tri-Cities and surrounding the community with its eastern European cuisine offering everything from handmade pierogis, stuffed cabbage rolls, Hungarian goulash, potato pancakes, smoked German schnitzel sandwiches, Artisan scones, egg & cheese galettes, and sweet cheese blintzes.

For a super unique American-inspired menu, Glen Prairie Local Flavor in Glen Ellyn serves contemporary American cuisine, with a strong emphasis on local Midwest flavors, featuring natural and organic ingredients, with a comprehensive wine list highlighting “green” farmed wines. Menu items include weekly specials like Smoked Duck Salad and Thai Thighs with Forbidden Black Rice.

Each Monday and Tuesday in April starting at 3pm until 6pm head to Parkers’ Restaurant & Bar in Downers Grove for “Devour Hour – It’s Oyster Time” and again on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Oysters are only $1.25 each and you can enjoy the gourmet comfort of the restaurant as you eat sumptuous cuisine, free of pretension and loaded with ease.

Finally, nothing says tasty better than an ice cold beer on a warm spring day, so don’t miss the NFL Draft Party on April 27th at Tap House Grill in Oswego for a little addictive food and creative brews!

Happy Spring! -Kristen Kucharski
