GRAND CAYMAN

With spring break just around the corner, you may be dreaming of turquoise waters, powdery white sand beaches, and thirst-quenching pina coladas. Or perhaps, you’re the more adventurous type, fantasizing about epic scuba diving and snorkeling along a kaleidoscope of colorful coral . Either way, Grand Cayman is the perfect balance of adventure, leisure, and family bonding--as well as crossing off some thrilling tropical bucket list experiences!

My mom and I are so excited to share our incredible three- day itinerary with you! Whether you plan on spending a week or a few days as we did, Grand Cayman will rejuvenate your Caribbean spirit.

Day One: We arrived at The Ritz Carlton around 2pm, and were greeted with sunshine, tropical drinks, and warm smiles from employees and guests alike. It’s no wonder the Cayman Islands are known as the friendliest islands in the Caribbean. After checking into our glorious suite, we headed straight for the infamous onsite Seven Mile Beach where we ended up ordering a spectacular beachside dinner and concluded our first day with a serene sunset stroll.

Day Two: In the morning we were met by a shuttle to head out for the most exciting excursion --swimming with “Seahorses.” Yes, Pampered Ponies actually love to swim. We horseback rode along a secluded beach, then removed the harnesses and rode bareback straight into the Caribbean Sea! While this was a little frightening for my mom, I was in my glory.

After swimming with horses, we returned to our resort to relax for the rest of the afternoon. At twilight, we were picked up by Cayman Kayaks and headed to Rum Point for a Bioluminescent Bay Tour. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Witnessing this fragile ecosystem first hand was one of the most amazing and educational experiences we have ever had. Without question, if you visit Grand Cayman, this is a must do--ages 5 to 105!

Day Three: On our final day, we headed to Stingray City to swim with stingrays. Again mom was a bit out of her comfort zone, while my experience included lots of hugging and kissing of these gentle creatures. Over the past few years, we’ve visited several Caribbean Islands and since we are definitely a mom and daughter who enjoy a balance of adventure and relaxation, Grand Cayman was an ideal getaway.
