EDITOR'S NOTE | January 2016

WEST SUBURBAN HIGH FIVES | Celebrating Successes Happy New Year to you and yours! All of us at Glancer Magazine are very excited for 2016 and all that is planned for each issue. As you turn the pages you will notice many new features along with changes to some exisiting features– including my Editor’s Note. In keeping with the core of our publication, which is celebrating the faces and places of our community, I will now be dedicating my monthly column to exciting happenings around the suburbs. Please join me in this month’s HIGH FIVE by visiting a mentioned business, congratulating a featured resident or sharing these good news stories with another member of the community.

IN NAPERVILLE – High five to the developers and builders of the $93 million Water Street District under construction in Downtown Naperville. 40 high schoolers studying architecture, research and design at Naperville North got the chance to meet with them last month. The Mayor and City staff also attended before students donned hard hats to go onto the site to see the construction process up close. Very cool!

IN HINSDALE – High five to Jenny Taylor, nationally renowned boudoir photographer, on the opening of her new studio in Hinsdale. Located at 13 East 1st Street, the new 3,000 sq. ft. space will be just as stunning and luxurious as Taylor’s original studio in Naperville. So happy for your growth and success!

IN DOWNERS GROVE – High five to DuPage Medical Group for being recognized with a Three Year Accreditation with Commendation as a Freestanding Cancer Center from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC). This level of accreditation is the CoC’s highest distinction for quality of care and ensures that DMG’s Integrated Oncology Program exceeds all standard requirements. DMG is the only accredited Freestanding Cancer Center in Illinois. We just love hearing such fabulous news!

IN WHEATON – High five to Escape For Fun, Inc., the new hot spot in Wheaton that opened this month. Get ready for The Chamber, a medieval themed room, where up to 10 people are "locked -in" and must solve puzzles, riddles, codes and clues in order to find a series of keys and ultimately escape. The catch is that you only have 60 minutes to do it. This sounds like it would make for a great Team Glancer outing!

IN NORTH AURORA – High Five to Moves Dance Studio on launching its new “MIGHTY MOVERS” Dance Program for individuals with disabilities and special needs. The first class is complimentary so if you’re a parent of a special needs child who loves to dance, come on out & see firsthand how great the instructor is. I actually enrolled my 5 year old daughter who has Down syndrome and she absolutely LOVES it!

IN KANELAND – High five to Kaneland District #302’s nominees for Kane County’s 2016 Educator-of-the-Year competition– Early Career Educator: Jessica Weibler, HMS; Classroom Middle School Educator: Raney Good, HMS; Classroom High School Educator: Michelle Jurcenko, KHS; School Administrator: Laura Garland, KST; and Educational Service Personnel: Betty Borg, KHS. Such a great group! Wow.

IN ST. CHARLES – High five to Meredith Murphy of Bombshelll Blowout Boutique who is bringing you the same amazing service, stylists and glamour at a second location, Bombshell 56 at 56 Indiana Street, devoted to cutting and coloring. So happy for this inspiring ladypreneur!

Until February..... thanks for reading & cheers to you!
