Q. What color is going to be “on trend” for 2015?
A. Marsala. That’s the Pantone color of the year for 2015, and the shade color experts believe will be reflected in fashion, home décor, and graphic and industrial design trends next year. In a release issued, Pantone describes the color as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red.” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said the color would enrich the mind, body and soul.
Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal. Experts say this rich yet softer shade of red reflects our countries mood of returning to calm and cozy within our homes and lives.
Marsala can be paired well with shades of grey and rich cocoa colors. If you are looking to add just a touch of this trendy color, I suggest staring with a few throw pillows or maybe a small accent chair. Keep in mind some color forecasts really stick and are long lasting like we have seen with the grey color trend. While others like last years “Orchid” color of the year really have not had great country wide appeal. I always tell my clients if you like the color that’s all that really matters and then it will always be “on trend” with you.
