MOM'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK | Blackberry Farm & Splash Country

July 2009 - SPLASHING FARM PLAY

You have heard of a combo meal, how about a combo pass? Spend only $10/person and have an entire day of activities. Where can you ride on ponies, go on a train, take a hay ride, go on a carousel, ride pedal tractors, go down water slides, float down a lazy river, and play in a pool?

Let’s go to the Farm and Splash Country. Blackberry Farms has so much to offer. With over 54 acres of fun, your child will not get bored. You can take a train ride to visit the various cabins that do daily demonstrations of pottery, blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, and sewing. You can get on and off the train depending on where you want to stop and go to next. After riding the train, take a ride on the Merry Go Round, then go for a ride on a real pony. Yes, this is all included in your admission price. Pay nothing additional, for more and more fun.

My kids loved the old fashion hay ride and the blacksmithing. Don’t miss the Farm Area where children can ride on pedal tractors and view the live farm animals. You can go fishing on Lake Gregory or explore the Street Museum. Bonus features are the outdoor pavilion, ponds and fountains. Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch and eat in the picnic area.

When you have completed your farm tour; head across the street to Splash Country to cool off for the afternoon. Water abounds with their zero depth pools, water slides, the second largest lazy river in Illinois, interactive splash zones and play features, sand areas, picnic areas, and volleyball courts. There is something for everyone at this waterpark.

Blackberry Farm is located at 100 S. Barnes Road, Aurora, IL 60506. Phone number is 630-892-1550. Hours are Monday-Friday 9:30am-3:30pm, Saturday/Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm. Splash Country is across the street at 195 S. Barnes, Aurora, IL 60506, call for hours. Phone number is 630-906-7981. Both can be found www.foxvalleyparkdistrict.org. Combo pass to enter both for the day is $8/resident, $10/non-resident.
