15 FASCINATING FACES OF 2022 | Officer Alexis Hammer of Naperville

NAPERVILLE–Alexis always wanted to be a K9 officer. They have always been her superheroes. Once she began her own career in law enforcement, she gained even more respect for the K9 position and made it her ultimate goal.

“I studied, researched, and attended multiple training sessions to gain as much knowledge as I could,” Alexis says “Needless to say, I am thrilled and honored to be Dax’s partner, and I look forward to an incredible journey together with the Naperville Police Department.”

Officer Alexis Hammer and her partner Dax (German Shepherd) are assigned to patrol. This is a uniformed position, and she drives a specially marked K-9 vehicle. Along with general patrol duties, as a patrol K-9 officer, she and Dax conduct building, evidence and suspect searches; track missing persons and suspects; and detect illegal narcotics.

Her biggest support systems are her personal and police families. Alexis has always served the community, even as a young Plainfield Juniorette, a group she continues to support through speaking engagements.

Alexis is very busy as a wife and mother of four young boys. Her determination, work ethic, and genuine concern for others provides the opportunity to continually create the best version of herself.
