1.What's your go-to girl power song, and why?
"Bad Reputation," by Joan Jett speaks to me because I've always stayed true to myself without conforming to societal norms. In my culture, women who choose paths different from traditional roles must develop a thick skin to live authentically.
2. If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be, and why?
The power to heal others both physically and mentally.
3. Share a memorable moment from a community event or photo shoot that you've been a part of.
I haven't been with this organization for a long time, but as a woman over 50 returning to this field, I have been truly touched by the tremendous support from all the amazing women I have connected with.
4. What's your favorite local hangout spot, and what do you love about it?
In Aurora, I love Two Brothers Roundhouse for its amazing beer, food, and vibrant live music scene. In Chicago, I love Reggie’s Rock Club for its diversity and commitment to real music with actual musicians.
5. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be, and why?
I would sit and chat with Harriet Tubman. I would thank her for her bravery. Her fearlessness has profoundly impacted many, and her determination and resilience in the face of adversity is inspiring.
6. Describe your perfect staycation location in just three words.
Family, Nature, and Music
7. Share a funny or interesting anecdote about your experience in the community living or digital marketing industry.
I love how most of the women featured in Glancer are always so humble and honored to be selected. Even though they possess remarkable talent and deserve recognition, they don’t see it because instead of seeking approval, they pour all their passion and energy into their craft.
8. What's a quirky talent or hobby that most people don't know you have?
Most people don’t know that I like to travel around the world to attend Heavy Metal Festivals. My quirky talent is that I am becoming a pretty skilled handywoman. I enjoy taking on large home renovation projects.
9. If you were to create a signature cocktail representing your role in the company, what would it be called and what ingredients would it have?
My cocktail would be called “The Unconventional, “a fun blend of aged tequila, Mezcal, Rosemary, grapefruit, and Jalapeño for an extra kick. I am completely out of my element at times, but somehow we make it work.
10. What's a piece of advice or mantra that resonates with you and guides your work in the community living or digital marketing field?
My favorite mantra for personal growth: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn't change you.”
